楽器が持つ美しさとは何か
芸術は、ここにしかない一回性に存在する。
模倣による芸術は、
たとえ技術的に完璧であっても、その一回性が失われる。
誰かがすでに見た・聴いた表現を再現している限り、その場に作品は生まれない。
木の節や揺らぎ、人のもつ不完全さを受け入れながら、美醜が作品から現れるのを待つこと。
私にとって楽器製作は、音を奏でる道具を作ることではなく、
弾き手が孤独のなかで、芸術と対峙するための楽器を生み出すことです。

What is the beauty an instrument holds?
Art exists in its singularity — a moment that can only happen here, only once.
When art imitates, even in technical perfection, that singularity is lost.
As long as one recreates what another has already seen or heard, no true work is born in that space.
To accept the knots and trembling of wood, the imperfection inherent in human hands — and to wait for beauty and ugliness to emerge from the work itself.
For me, making instruments is not the making of a tool that produces sound. It is the bringing forth of an instrument through which the player, in solitude, confronts art itself.
